Transportation engineering Bachelor (BSc):


The aim of the bachelor engineering programme is to train transportation engineers, who will be able to organize and operate processes of passenger and goods transportation. They will learn how to choose proper measures for these tasks, how to operate and maintain such transportation systems, including elements of infrastructure, control and IT systems. The gained knowledge is sufficient to continue their education in the MSc programmes of the Faculty.

We offer a multi-step educational programme: the first three semesters deal with basic natural science, economics, human studies and professional courses. From the 4th semester students can choose from the listed specializations.


Road transportation specialization

Student will learn about the process of passenger and good transportation, and establishing of optimal transportation networks. Graduates will be able to manage and organize these networks, including the analysis of transportation demands, planning of traffic control systems and choosing proper vehicles for operation. They will learn the basics of traffic engineering and road construction. The specialization deals with the technology, facilities and information systems of urban and regional, individual and public transportation.

Railway transportation specialization

The students will learn about railway vehicles, tracks, tasks of the facilities and railway stations. With this knowledge graduates will be able to plan schedules, to organize train carriage, to plan and to operate safety systems, to overview financial processes and to manage IT systems.

Air transportation specialization

The students will learn how to control aircraft movements between the airports, and to coordinate airport related processes. They will be able to deal with demand analysis of passengers and goods, management of IT systems, daily management of airport related tasks and operation of flight safety systems.

Waterborne transportation specialization

Students will learn about the control and operation of sea and river transportation means, furthermore about naval communication and IT systems. The graduates will acquire knowledge about the structure of the shipyards, their functions and tasks and will be able to handle port management tasks as well.

Transportation engineering Master (MSc):


The 4 semester long master education programme is a continuation of the bachelor studies. Our aim is to train graduates, who will be able to analyze, plan, organize and control transport related processes in an integrated way considering economic, safety, environmental and human resource aspects. Graduates will be able to deal with tasks of transport administration and transport authorities, choice and operation of vehicles and facilities of passenger and good transportation systems and related infrastructural, control and IT system elements. The students will also be prepared to higher management tasks, to creatively participate in research & development tasks. These studies prepare students for our PhD programme.


Transportation systems specialization

Knowledge can be obtained about smart cities, passenger transportation systems, city logistics, planning of transportation systems, environmental effects, process management including transportation infrastructure and control systems, traffic modeling with micro and macro simulation.

Transportation automatization specialization

In this specialization both theory and practice in automatization of complex transportation systems and solving of relevant problems are covered with special focus on safety critical systems.

Transportation engineer manager specialization

The focus is on transportation policy, transportation development, transport safety related economic questions, regulation methods, financing techniques, integrated intermodal transportation systems, human resource management and managements of transportation and logistics services.

Freight forwarding management specialization

Student will acquire up-to-date knowledge in the fields of shipping and forwarding. Students will gain knowledge about methods of business, financial and accounting techniques in the fields of freight forward marketing and management. Graduates will be able to handle finances of material handling, storing and distributional businesses. They will learn about the business skills needed for service and system planning. The main focus of the specialization is on decision support methods, elaboration of practical case studies, which helps develop team work, problem solving and presentation skills.

Air Traffic Management specialization

Aim of the Air Traffic Management specialization is to provide knowledge in the field of air traffic control. The course handles basic units of air traffic control (ATC, ATFM, ASM), handling of the air traffic, fundamental systems, problems and the solutions. Navigational systems and meteorological studies are also part of the course.
