Safety First! for the second time: dive into the world of transport safety and make a difference!

Safety First! is a team competition hosted by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Department of Automotive Technologies for university students. Our goal is to get more students involved in transport safety and motivate those interested in this field. The competition aims to encourage and support students in finding new and innovative solutions for today’s most significant transport safety issues. APPLICATION DEADLINE: 8th MARCH!

HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS

During the application, teams must submit a one-page written abstract related to one of the specified transport safety categories describing the specific safety issue and their ideas about the possible development opportunities to resolve it.

For the first round the teams must make a 10-minute presentation about how they plan to resolve the specific safety issue. Entries are judged by an expert committee based on the written abstract and the presentation.

Teams selected to participate in the second round of the competition will be guided by a faculty advisor. For the second round, teams need to submit a 6–10-page document with a detailed description of the developed concept and the applicability of their proposed solution, potentially supported by model-based tests to show its benefits.

Teams selected for the final round are expected to demonstrate their ideas and potential applications of their concept.

WHY STUDENTS SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN THE SAFETY FIRST! COMPETITION

The competition gives young scholars an exciting opportunity to integrate and apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts to develop a cost-effective solution for a transport safety issue. Besides being a great opportunity for students to compete, the competition also helps them to build connections with fellow students, industry, and academic experts.
